Today’s comic brings back the toys from the Closet of Sentient Rejects. I love that whole group of characters so much! Most of the human characters in Fun Factory are… well, evil or stupid. Or, at least their actions tend be evil or stupid. So far. (This isn’t to say that as the stories progress the characters won’t grow and change. I mean, this isn’t a completely crappy comic. Just mostly crappy.) The Sentient Toys, however, are the most “human” characters introduced so far. They have hopes, dreams, good qualities and bad. For a comic with a fairly small archive, these are the characters that are probably the most relatable / least parodic. Sure, you know the toys they’re based on, from Barbie to GI Joe, to He-Man, but like the toys in Toy Story, there’s so much more to them than their corporate creators ever dreamed.
The Sentient Toys are going to play a big part in “The War.” If you’ve read the archive, there’s going to be some payoff for you with this story.
